If you play a round without saving and loading and hurry up a bit you should easily be able to do most of the speedrun badges and in the last mission you can also use the easter egg ending. I agree that the badges are bit misplaced in such a game, but I still think it's not too bad, since the times you need to achieve are still pretty slow. So far I've only done the speed runs through mission 10, but I haven't really had any issues and have beat most of the levels with ample time to spare.

One thing I noticed from the PC speed runs (I'm playing on PS4) is that the ability to move all your characters at once without setting things up with shadow mode (which is also slower on PS4 for movement) helps tremendously for traversing the very large levels. I never got any of the runs on my first try, so I essentially did each speed run in segments, only saving when I completed a portion of the level in a decent time. I could go back and reload from the main menu and not have any time penalty added. What I would sometimes do would be to get to a certain checkpoint, save, and then just spend time studying the next portion of the level. If it helps, going back to the main menu and reloading any save does not add to the timer, but it is a bit annoying if you fail repeatedly. Speed runs force you to adapt on the fly to unfavorable situations and even though the result is not as planned or strategic, it can end up feeling more organic and rewarding when I scrounge my way out of a tough situation. On the other hand, a few times during the speed runs are the only times while playing this game that I've actually had my heart race as with normal playthroughs I can just load a quicksave.

This couples very poorly with speedruns, since recklessness is the complete opposite of the core game mechanic. This means taking things very calmly, patiently, tactically, and analytically. With a stealth strategic game like Shadow Tactics, the focus isn't as much on executing your plan perfectly as analyzing the entire situation around you and not only what's going on on the visible screen but possibly also two screens over in any given direction. You could still get a decent run time, just by being good at the game mechanics. Sure, learning the levels and perfecting your run helps, but it's not necessary. Why? Because everything that you'll need to take into account is on the screen at once. If it had been an action-stealth game, say Mark of the Ninja, then fine. For one simple reason: It goes directly against the game mechanics. Speed runs don't have a place as a 100% completion condition in a tactical stealth style game. This is my opinion, and I wanted to hear what others think of it
